Xignature Holds Webinar on Fraud Mitigation Strategies & Strengthening Digital Document Legality in the Era of Digital Transformation

JAKARTA — Xignature successfully held a webinar titled “Fraud Mitigation Strategies and Document Legality in the Digital Era”, attended by more than 300 participants in a hybrid format. The webinar featured experts from regulatory institutions, academia, and industry practitioners to discuss challenges and solutions in addressing the growing risks of fraud amid rapid digital transformation, particularly in the fintech and digital services sectors.
In his opening remarks, Xignature Director Robert Rompas emphasized that the acceleration of digital transformation should not come at the expense of security. He highlighted that issues such as identity forgery and document authenticity have become increasingly complex challenges, especially with the emergence of rapidly evolving technologies. Therefore, collaboration among industry players, regulators, and the public is essential to create a safe and trustworthy digital ecosystem.
The discussion also addressed the rising threat of increasingly sophisticated digital fraud, particularly through the use of artificial intelligence technologies such as deepfake. This technology enables highly realistic visual manipulation, making conventional identity verification processes more difficult. This poses a major challenge for digital service providers, including electronic signature providers, to ensure that every authentication process is genuinely carried out by the rightful individual.
In this context, the speakers explained that the digital signature industry in Indonesia has implemented very high security standards. Becoming a certified provider is not an easy process, as companies must undergo strict audits that can take years to complete while fulfilling various technical and regulatory requirements. In addition, certified providers are required to have accountability mechanisms, including compensation guarantees in the event of errors during user verification processes.
Although the use of digital signatures has surpassed one billion documents in recent years, the adoption rate is still considered not yet optimal. Public education remains crucial, particularly to clarify the misconception that scanned signatures are legally equivalent to certified digital signatures.
